It can be a daunting thought, conquering our vulnerability but the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives when it comes to capturing memories of your most important moments. So here are my five top reasons more women should be fighting the fear and celebrating their pregnancy with a beautiful maternity photoshoot they and their babies will love forever.
C’mon now I can hear the sighing and the murmurs of ‘I don’t see incredible when I look in the mirror’.
There can be a lot of body shaming that is experienced during and shortly after pregnancy for women. And unfortunately a lot of it comes from within.
Of course there are going to be some changes when you look in the mirror; stretch marks, dimpled skin, extra skin! My hope is that society is slowly turning the page on seeing these as negatives and starting to see them as things to be cherished.
Your body is creating new life!
That’s absolutely something worth celebrating. Whether it’s in a beautiful boho dress or baring all in the buff let’s show it off in a beautiful bespoke maternity session.
Ok, so this sounds a bit dramatic, I know, but it’s true. This time is so special and important in yours and your families lives. It’s worth making the time to document and save these memories.
How many times have you been to an event or celebrated a special occasion and realised the next day that you only have a few blurry snaps of it? Yep, me too. And it’s such a shame because no matter what you do you cannot rewind time. Once the moments gone, it’s gone.
You won’t be pregnant forever (although it might feel it!) and one day you will want to remember this miraculous thing you did. How it felt, how it looked and how special that time was.
I say this a lot to mothers looking for a maternity photoshoot and sometimes they look at me with a quizzical face like …’Well, who else are they for?’
They are for the future generation too. One day your baby is going to crawl on your lap to cuddle and look at pictures of when they were in your belly.
Strengthening that beautiful bond between you.
There are so many studies a documenting the positive impact it can have for children seeing themselves displayed in family images around the home. The sense of place and belonging are reinforced as a part of a strong family unit, their tribe. Their understanding of being loved and wanted, cherished and nurtured can do wonders for self-esteem, mental health and relationships. All things, I think you’ll agree, the next generation could do with a little extra support on. So maternity photos really can have an impact on your baby for many years to come.
Woop! Woop!
Whether you’re going from none to one or four to more, your priorities are going to be on other things when the baby arrives. So why not use this as an excuse to get glammed up and really treat yourself.
No matter your style, glam gal or wild woman, this is a chance to take some time for you before the baby whirl wind.
So book in a blow dry, paint those nails and whack on an extra layer of mascara. It’s time to shine!
Nobody wants blurry phone photos hung on the wall of the nursery or stuck in the family album. Invest in quality bespoke images that make you smile every time you see them.
It’s a funny one really, the ‘investing’ mindset.
As ladies we would happily spend money on some shoes or a nice pair of jeans. We justify that purchase to ourselves saying that they will see us through several years because they are good quality, made well and are built to last.
Some of us will visit the hair dresser every six months and spend an amount we probably won’t tell the husband about. We will even splurge on a pricey meal and a bottle of good wine for the occasional date night thinking nothing of it.
But when it comes to investing in beautiful maternity photoshoot that you will enjoy in your home everyday and potentially be enjoyed for generations to come, we falter.
