Why Spring Photography is the BEST season for your Family Session

Spring photography is often overlooked but I am here to convince you…

There are, of course, pro’s and con’s with all the seasons. Summer can be a busy but warm, Autumn is gorgeous but rainy and let’s face it trying to do anything extra with little ones in the build up to Christmas is just stressful!

So, for me, Spring is King! Especially in terms of family photography.

Here’s why I believe Spring Photography should be high priority for those looking for amazing outdoor images… (and believe it or not I didn’t realise they all started with ‘B’ until I wrote them down!)

Blossom

If you are a fan of the light and bright aesthetic you will love the backdrop that the beautiful Spring blossom provides. Last year I chose Radford Park, Plymouth as the location for my Mummy and Me Mini Sessions. The results were fantastic and all the children loved playing the petal snow.

Bluebells

If your family enjoys exploring the woods then you will be aware of the lush purple scented carpet that erupts across the forest and woodland floors of Devon each Spring. Theres always something a little magical to the images of families enjoying the bluebells; colourful and full of joy.

Beaches

The other wonderful thing about Spring is that the weather is often cool but bright. Perfect weather for family beach photography! Not only are the beaches a lot quieter than in the Summer but the sun is much lower and helps to create a really warm emotive tone.

Bedtimes

Finally, in the Spring because the days are that little bit shorter it means that the golden hour before sunset is much earlier. So as a result family shoots can take place that couple of hours earlier and it doesn’t keep any little people up past their bed time. A win for everyone!
